Board introduces five capital improvement ordinances for Law & Public Safety and the Prosecutor’s Office

During the Feb. 11 meeting the Morris County Board of County Commissioners introduced five capital improvement fund ordinances on first reading. The presiding official explained these are primarily capital spending items vetted by the county’s capital committee and previously presented to the board.
The introduced ordinances and appropriations included (as read into the record): an appropriation of $185,000 for upgrade and replacement of equipment for the Department of Law and Public Safety communications center (Ordinance '20 26 dash 8'); $50,000 for replacement and upgrades at the Law and Public Safety training academy ('20 26 dash 9'); $500,000 for equipment and vehicle upgrades for the Office of Emergency Management ('20 26 dash 10'); $130,000 for replacement of vehicles for the division of public health ('20 26 dash 11'); and $168,421 for replacement and purchase of equipment, vehicles and furniture for the Morris County Prosecutor's Office ('20 26 dash 12'). The total of those appropriations as introduced is approximately $1,033,421.
Each ordinance was introduced by title only on first reading, a motion to introduce was made and seconded for each, and roll-call responses were recorded. Adoption on final reading will require a subsequent vote at a future meeting.
