Morris County commissioners on Feb. 11 adopted seven bond ordinances on second and final reading to fund infrastructure and equipment projects across county departments. The ordinances were approved after the board opened and closed the public hearings with no speakers and carried by roll call votes.
The ordinances and appropriations adopted include: a $11,721,623 bond ordinance for road and railroad improvements by the Department of Public Works; a $5,720,916 ordinance for bridge and drainage design and construction projects; a $951,000 ordinance for maintenance and repairs to a county parking garage; a $1,349,000 ordinance for vehicle and equipment replacement at the Division of Motor Services; a $1,858,115 ordinance for computer network and server system upgrades in Information Technology; a $1,221,000 ordinance for equipment and vehicle replacement for the Morris County Sheriff’s Office; and a $1,518,500 ordinance to study, review, improve or decommission dam structures for the Morris County Park Commission. The total of those appropriations is approximately $24,340,154.
Each ordinance was presented for a public hearing limited to that ordinance, the public portion was closed when no speakers appeared, and the board then moved and voted to adopt each measure on second and final reading. The clerk conducted roll calls for each measure, and the record shows the board proceeded to adopt each ordinance during the meeting.
No public comments were recorded on the ordinances. The adopted measures authorize borrowing (bonds or notes) to finance part of each project, with issuance amounts noted on the ordinances as presented to the board.
