Morris County honors Patty Slott as she retires after decades in nonprofit leadership

The Morris County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday presented a resolution recognizing Patty Slott on her retirement as executive director of PG Chambers School.

The board’s presenter summarized Slott’s career, saying she led PG Chambers School for seven years and has more than four decades in nonprofit leadership, including 11 years as president and CEO of JBWS, work establishing the Morris County Family Justice Center, and leadership roles with the United Way and Morris Tomorrow. The presenter said PG Chambers — founded in 1954 by parents advocating for services for children with disabilities — now serves approximately 900 children through state-approved private-school early intervention services and contract programs across northern New Jersey.

Slott, joined at the meeting by Katie Olson (director of development) and Adam Kearns (PG Chambers School’s incoming executive director), thanked the commissioners and county staff and invited stakeholders to visit the school. Family members identified in the transcript as Bob and Jack attended the recognition and the board posed for photographs after the resolution reading.

The resolution read in open session states: “The Board of County Commissioners of Morris County, New Jersey recognizes and congratulates Patty Slott on her retirement from PG Chambers School and extends its best wishes for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retirement.” The board signed the resolution and presented a plaque.

The recognition followed a short public acknowledgment of Slott’s contributions to special-education services and interagency collaboration countywide. Commissioners and staff praised her leadership in strengthening services for survivors of domestic violence and in regional planning partnerships that helped advance open-space preservation and transportation planning.
