Board signs off on treasurer items, investment schedule, construction change orders and 6–12 project update

The Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education approved routine treasurer items and an investment schedule and discussed several operational items tied to the district's facilities work on July 10.

Treasurer (Miss Deutschway) summarized fiscal‑year results, saying the general fund ended the year at about $15.09 million and that the district earned roughly $4.5 million in interest across accounts; she recommended approval of change‑of‑fund transfers, permanent appropriations for fiscal year 2025 and a donation from the Kidney Foundation. The board approved the treasurer's consent agenda by roll call.

On facilities, Mr. Regotti described change orders for a parent asphalt and concrete contract: a $3,200 removal for a stove item, an unanticipated set of underground fiber‑optic lines that required additional drilling (about $24,500) and a re‑routed catch basin costing roughly $10,000. Regotti said the contract included a $25,000 allowance for subgrade work and that, even with the change orders, the project is expected to finish about $9,000 under the original February contract total.

Superintendent Dr. Salica updated the board on move logistics for the building reconfiguration (bins, labeling, a planned topping‑off ceremony) and said the city needs to complete a land swap for the 6–12 project because of road‑widening and a utility pole issue; the land‑swap legislation was introduced to city council and will go to committee the following Monday.

Next steps: The district will finalize paperwork with city attorneys for the land swap, complete the project change‑order approvals and continue planning and communications for the building move and school openings.
