The motion was part of a consent package that included a preschool expansion aid award of $11,186,602 and a series of routine procurement and infrastructure items. Doctor Labbe outlined contract requests for cabling professional services from Aspire Technology Partners totaling $55,213 and technology hardware for intermediate-distribution closets from CDW Government Inc. totaling $57,735. The board also approved a $36,285 contract with Generation Services to install two new light poles in the high-school parking lot.
The superintendent said the schools food-services account would cover purchases related to kitchen equipment and a walk-in cooler: $22,634.98 for kitchen equipment at Wilson Elementary and $3,297.70 for electrical work tied to the Truman School walk-in cooler, plus a separate $1,340 completion item for the Truman cooler.
Doctor Labbe also said the district will pay up to $4,500 for permit drawings from Spiesl Architectural Group for an eSports lab and up to $115,300 for professional services to complete a solar canopy at the high school under the districts energy savings improvement program after the original financer declined to continue work.
Board members asked for confirmatory posting of supporting documents after one member said the financials were not yet visible in the BOE SharePoint site. Doctor Labbe and staff agreed to post the materials promptly.
Board discussion included a member noting that, because of district efforts, the tax levy increase expected of residents should be less than 2 percent. Doctor Labbe said federal funds represent a small slice of district revenue (about $2 million), and losing that funding would not automatically increase taxes but would require budget adjustments.
The consent package, which bundled budget approval with the procurement, personnel and policy items on the agenda, was called for a vote and recorded by the board. The chair announced the motion and the board recorded member positions before moving on to the public-comment portion of the meeting.
What happens next: Adoption of a tentative budget is a statutory step that allows the district to publish and submit required documentation and to hold any necessary public hearings before final adoption later in the budget cycle.
