At its Oct. 27 meeting the Town of Farmington Planning and Zoning Commission approved two site-plan items on the consent/new-business portion of the agenda.
Westwood Golf Course and Recreation Center: Jessie Gitano of the Recreation Department explained the proposal to enclose three sides of an existing pavilion to store utility carts and to erect a seasonal 20-by-40-foot tent for pavilion rentals from May 1 through Nov. 1. Gitano said the parks department currently operates a fleet of 28 electric carts and plans to expand to about 40 pending budget approval. Commissioners asked about upgraded electrical work, exterior shutoffs and fire-safety inspection; staff confirmed the electrical work will be inspected by the fire marshal following upgrades. The commission made and seconded a motion to approve the site-plan application; the motion passed on a voice vote.
RPG Farmington Commons (790 Farmington Ave): Mark Marcy, representing RPG Farmington Commons LLC, presented a site-plan modification to extend a 2020 approval (which covered Buildings 1 and 4) to the other buildings on the campus so all four buildings can be converted from office to residential use. Marcy said the plan envisions about 30 units overall and that most changes are internal with a small number of window and door adjustments to meet residential code; the applicant does not plan an on-site leasing office. Commissioners confirmed access, parking implications and that any needed building permits and code upgrades will be processed by staff. The motion to approve the site-plan modification carried on a voice vote.
Vote notes: Both approvals were recorded as motions and carried by voice vote; the meeting transcript did not include a roll-call tally of individual commissioner votes.
