House adopts resolution honoring 2025 ‘Hawaii Health Care Heroes’

The House of Representatives adopted House Resolution No. 16 on a voice vote to congratulate clinicians chosen by the Health Care Association of Hawaii as 2025 "Hawaii Health Care Heroes." Representative Takayama moved adoption and Representative Matayoshi seconded; the Speaker declared the motion carried.
The resolution recognizes clinicians selected through a patient-driven nomination process administered by the Health Care Association of Hawaii. "These are exceptional individuals whose dedication and compassion make a profound impact on the lives of all of our citizens," Representative Takayama said in supporting remarks.
Representative Matayoshi explained the program and introduced several honorees. She described the selection as based on patient testimonies and noted the association has run the program since 2014. The House read the names and accomplishments of the honorees, which the resolution lists as Dr. Jamie Fukui (Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children; University of Hawaii Cancer Center), Dr. Parwathy Panicker (Kaiser Permanente Kona Medical Office), Sean Morishige (registered nurse, Rehab Hospital of the Pacific), Kyle Ohisa (physician assistant, Pali Momi), and Dr. Linda Wong (Queen’s Medical Center).
Representative Takayama thanked the guests in the gallery — patients, family members and leaders of the Health Care Association of Hawaii — and asked that the honorees' names be entered into the journal. The Speaker ordered their names entered and called a brief recess so members could meet and congratulate the awardees. The House returned and continued business after the recess.
