Director announces level-5 rating; students showcase CTSO programs and district capital projects

The Henderson County School Board heard a series of updates from the director of schools and student representatives from career and technical student organizations.
Director Mister Beecham said the embargo on reporting was lifted and announced that Henderson County Schools received a level-5 rating, which he described as the state’s highest measure of effectiveness. He credited teachers, students and staff for the result.
On facilities, Beecham reported a baseball building is expected to break ground (weather permitting) once specifications are finalized by TLM and the district completes the bidding process; a parking lot resurfacing project is scheduled for Thanksgiving week for the 'beaver' parking lot, with plans to upgrade other school lots as funding allows. He also noted ongoing bargaining items have been authorized financially to proceed with required work.
Students from multiple CTSOs gave brief presentations on their programs: FBLA described community-service projects and competitions (FBLA membership stated as about 36 members); FFA students outlined agriculture pathways and facilities (barn, greenhouse, shop), said the greenhouse sale raised more than $7,000 last year, and cited local agriculture statistics mentioned in the presentation; HOSA students described healthcare pathway certifications (OSHA, CPR, CNA) and membership numbers reported for the local chapter.
Board members and parents praised the CTSO programs for increasing student engagement and creating work-based learning opportunities. The next board meeting was set for Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. at Lexington High School.
