Kentucky Senate honors YMCA, adopts resolutions and posts bills for committee review

Frankfort — In addition to floor debate and votes on two bills, the Kentucky Senate on Feb. 25 adopted ceremonial resolutions and handled routine business including committee reports and the introduction of new measures.
The Senate adopted Senate Resolution 57 honoring Father Patrick McDowell on the occasion of his ordination after the clerk read the resolution and Senator Higdon moved adoption. The chamber also adopted Senate Resolution 60 recognizing the YMCA's 175th anniversary; the clerk read a lengthy resolution summarizing YMCA history and services in Kentucky, and Senator from Fayette moved its adoption.
Clerk reports from standing committees listed numerous bills recommended to pass or to be placed on the calendar, and the committee on committees referred bills to appropriations, education, judiciary and other panels. The clerk also introduced a new group of bills (senate bills 246–254) on topics including agriculture, workforce development, energy, corrections, civil remedies, medicinal cannabis and property rehabilitation programs; these measures were referred to the relevant committees for review.
Members also used the floor to make announcements about receptions and committee meeting times (for example, a Health Services special call meeting on using artificial intelligence in rural health), and the presiding officer put the Senate in recess until call of the chair before adjourning until 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026.
