Pontiac City Council voted to enter into a contract with ACP Entertainment for $48,322 to provide carnival rides and games at Rotary Park’s Summer Bash on Aug. 31. The administration said last year’s event drew 1,500–2,000 people and expects a similar turnout; funding will come from multiple general ledger event accounts split between mayoral and communications budgets.
Several council members said they objected to the short notice for council review given the event’s proximity; one member recorded a dissenting “no” vote citing timing and the use of public funds for a last‑minute request. Council discussed security plans and noted the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office would provide a significant presence on the ground, as it did the prior year. After discussion council approved the contract (6–1).
