Pontiac’s City Council approved a second reading and adoption of ZMA24005, rezoning the former Dell’s Pharmacy property at 221 Baldwin from R‑2 (two‑family residential) to R‑3 (multifamily) to permit expansion of residential use on the ground floor. Planning manager Mark Andrick noted the parcel is consistent with the master plan’s traditional neighborhood classification and planning commission recommended approval (6–0).
The applicant told council the first floor would be converted to a residential unit and existing upstairs units are leased. Council had no public speakers on the item and adopted the ordinance unanimously. The rezoning will allow the property to be used more intensively and could facilitate additional housing units in the immediate neighborhood.
