Chilton animal-control director seeks temporary hires, reports state inspection passed

She requested permission to close the shelter on March 14 so staff can attend required state training and asked the commission to approve submission of a Petco partner application that could make grants available to the shelter. Christina also asked to advertise two temporary kennel/animal-care positions, requested wage adjustments for two employees and said she planned to reclassify one part-time employee to full time beginning Feb. 14.
A commissioner read a text message from the veterinary-state board reporting a successful annual inspection; the message said inspectors were "super impressed" and that the facility was cleared to remain a registered euthanasia facility. Christina said the inspection noted only the need to install a sink in the new medical room once federal Drug Enforcement Administration documentation is transferred.
Commissioners expressed appreciation for shelter staff and accepted donations were welcomed.
