Johnson described three repair approaches: a short-term patch, installing a cross drain with asphalt material (he cited an estimate of about $8,600 for material, equipment and labor) and a full rebuild (about $20,000). County staff later clarified that the material cost for the cross-drain/asphalt option would be about $3,600 while labor and equipment would make up the rest of the expense.
Johnson also requested that the county drop a truckload of gravel on a county-owned strip of land between the rescue squad site and the new emergency-management fence to reduce mud when firefighters and apparatus park there. County representatives agreed to inspect the area and said they could provide rock and help coordinate a visit to size the job and get estimates.
Commissioners discussed whether to include short-term patching in this budget cycle or move larger reconstruction to next year. The chair noted that, because public comment rules limit deliberation during the comment period, any motion should be made at the next meeting for formal action.
