Iberia Parish president outlines projects: Sugarina parking expansion, road bids, permit-software and hiring needs

The president said contractor NTG will use the lot to stage equipment and materials for the parish’s first solar project, planned to occur over the next 12 months.
The president reported that engineers’ road assessments are complete and that bids to repair roads are expected to go out in January or February, depending on staff schedules. He said public works has completed tasks including carpet cleaning, roadside drainage and road patching across several districts and noted an ongoing cleanup event on Dec. 7 that collected 95 bags of trash.
On administrative changes, the president said the parish is moving forward with AIM, a nuisance and permit-planning software integrated with GIS. He said the administration will propose job-description changes in the planning and zoning department (separating enforcement/inspection and managerial roles), and will bring ordinance updates to the council so enforcement is applied consistently across addresses.
The president listed open positions the parish is actively recruiting for, including a certified residential/commercial building inspector, director of finance, maintenance worker for the Acadiana Fairgrounds, several public-works staff, a part-time animal-control officer and 9-1-1 personnel. He invited interested candidates to view openings on the Iberia Parish government website.
