Members of an advisory action committee agreed on minor edits to a draft report and to circulate the final version to the Public Health committee and to legislative clerks this week, after clarifying a statutory list of recipients and timing.
The meeting, held by conference call without a formal quorum, focused on presentation and formatting. Speaker 1 said the draft was "written very well" but that the PDF font was “really, really tiny” and asked that the report’s specific requests be made more prominent. Speaker 5 responded that the printed font is legible but offered to increase font size, widen margins, bold key requests and, if needed, add a one-page executive summary to avoid exceeding the intended page count.
Speaker 3, who coordinated distribution, confirmed the committee would send the final version to the Public Health committee and to leadership including senator Anwar and Representative McCarthy Veil. Speaker 3 said there is a statutory section that specifies which clerks and offices must receive reports from public acts and pledged to email a list of those recipients to Toni Anne by the end of the day.
On timing, participants noted March 1 falls on a Sunday. Speaker 5 asked whether to send on Friday or Monday; Speaker 3 advised that the group could send the report on Monday, March 2, and, if it was not ready, that they should email the chairs to request a short extension. The group agreed that sending on Friday was an option if the final edits were complete sooner.
No formal motions or votes were taken because the meeting lacked a quorum. The practical next steps recorded were: Speaker 5/4 will implement the formatting changes (bigger font, bolder asks, possible one-page executive summary), Speaker 3 will provide the statutory recipient list and contact names for the chairs, and the group will circulate the final file to the listed recipients by Friday or, at the latest, Monday, March 2.
The call ended with offers of help on outreach and email logistics and a shared plan to move the report to the Public Health committee for review.
