The Planning Board on April 7 received a site‑plan amendment application from Lorena DeMarco for the North Star Cantina property at 1574 Bronx Road. DeMarco said she is converting part of the site to an open restaurant and bar area, will use a food truck as a temporary kitchen, expand the patio with landscape grading, remove a shed, and add several parking spaces closer to Brook Lane while moving the dumpster to a less visible location.
DeMarco emphasized the concept is for cocktails, live music and a small‑plate menu rather than a full kitchen with open flames or stoves; she said the food truck would act as the kitchen to limit staff needs. The applicant provided updated graded lines and said the retaining wall would be removed and the topography reseeded with plantings to screen the patio.
Staff commented that most drafter comments had been addressed, but recommended scheduling a site stakeout so the board can review the proposed patio layout on site. The board unanimously scheduled an on‑site stakeout for Saturday, April 12 at 8:00 a.m. and will return the item to the agenda for further review after the site visit.
