Platteville planning commission recommends selling former Family Advocates duplex at 210 N. Bonson; driveway hard-surface condition suggested
Summary
Staff told the council that 210 N. Bonson, returned to city ownership due to a deed restriction, would be solicited for bids to return it to residential use; the planning commission recommended a sale process with a condition that the driveway be hard-surfaced by the buyer.

City planning staff said the city recently regained ownership of 210 North Bonson Street after Family Advocates moved to a new facility and the deed restriction triggered reversion of title. The building has been used as a duplex and staff proposed soliciting bids to place the property back on the tax rolls as residential housing.
The planning commission recommended proceeding with a request-for-bids process and suggested including a condition that the buyer hard-surface the existing driveway on the north side of the building after purchase. Council discussed the building’s duplex zoning (R2), noted conversion to additional units would require rezoning, and asked the city manager to coordinate site cleanup prior to sale.
No sale was approved at the meeting; staff will proceed with the bid process if the council directs.
