Clint summarized the memorandum and read language reported back from Representative Van Orden’s office that described the pause’s scope: "including but not limited to financial assistance for foreign aid, nongovernmental organizations, DEI, woke gender ideology, and the new green deal," he said. Council members and staff said they were awaiting further clarification from OMB about which programs are affected and when the pause might be lifted.
City staff noted that the local share for the fire station must be expended before the city may access designated federal funds and said they still anticipate releasing construction bid documents the following week while monitoring developments. "At this time, we are awaiting further clarification from OMB regarding when the pause may be lifted," the report said. Council members did not take formal action but flagged the item for continued monitoring.
The city intends to proceed with necessary pre‑bid steps while remaining mindful of potential funding timing changes. No change to the council’s schedule was recorded at this meeting.
