Board honors students and community partnerships; NSA Lakers to adopt MTES
Summary
The board recognized students across grade levels for academics, athletics and community service and heard that NSA Lakers will formally adopt MTES; programs highlighted included Reading Buddies and Lasagna Love.
The meeting featured a series of student recognitions from across the district. Jamie Popek, senior class president at Manchester Township High School, summarized recent student events and fundraisers and thanked the board for the opportunity to report. Board members then recognized individual students by name for volunteer work, academic progress and athletic achievement, including fifth-grader Mohammed Yildiz, Ridgeway student Dorel, Regional Day School student Abby, and middle- and high-school athletes.
Community partnerships were emphasized: the military ambassador reported that “NSA Lakers is gonna be adopting MTES,” with a Feb. 6, 10 a.m. ceremony planned and continuing reading-buddies and mentorship activities. The board also highlighted student volunteer work at Leisure Village West, where students helped seniors with a gate/QR code application, and a Lasagna Love drive that collected nonperishable goods for local families.
Board members applauded the students and encouraged the public to attend upcoming school events.
