Board sets tentative fall season calendar while awaiting turf‑project and field confirmations

The board agreed to begin fall recreational practices on Aug. 11 and targeted Aug. 23 for the first games, with a regular season through Oct. 4 and playoffs the weekend of Oct. 11. The chair said the earlier start is intended to "front load" the schedule to give space for a pending turf project and potentially let the turf work start earlier. The board also excluded Sundays Sept. 14 and Sept. 28 from Sunday game scheduling for logistical reasons.

Coaches recruitment is largely complete for older age groups but the chair said U8 and U6 remain understaffed (two coaches each). The chair reported registration is down by roughly 200 kids compared with prior counts; members attributed that to vacations, the early start (first week of school) and uncertainty around fields. Diego and others volunteered to handle photography (including a proposed drone group photo) and to prepare signage and laminated materials for coaches and parents. Parent meeting is scheduled for Aug. 9 at 11 a.m., with a Meet the Team session to follow at noon.

The board debated tournament scheduling for the advertised December 'slam' tournament (Dec. 5–7) because that date falls during the planned off‑season; members discussed moving the tournament earlier or cancelling for the year if fields or staffing cannot be secured. Multiple alternate field options were discussed (Seminole evenings/weekends, county fields, a polo facility in Loxahatchee), and the chair asked staff to seek hard dates and confirm availability before finalizing tournament plans.

Next steps: staff will continue team creation this week, finalize coach assignments, confirm field/lighting availability (Seminole Field #9 and substitutes) and report back at the next meeting.
