Morrow County commissioners approve routine authorizations, set zoning map public hearing and appropriate $320,000 for public safety and juvenile housing

Morrow County commissioners met Sept. 16 and approved a package of routine administrative actions, set a public hearing on a zoning map amendment and moved money into the general fund for public defender services and juvenile housing. The board opened the meeting with a prayer led by Commissioner Siegfried and then proceeded through a series of roll-call votes on consent and action items.

The most consequential fiscal action was an appropriation of certified unappropriated funds into the general fund: $170,000 for the county public defender line and $150,000 for juvenile housing. The board likewise approved a resolution authorizing payments to an organization described in the record as concerned with violence against women for 2025.

Other routine items included approval of payments received (including fees from local racetrack and rent), and a transfer of $1,600.20 from professional services to IT professional services to cover an email-filter invoice; that transfer was approved on a motion and roll-call vote.
