Pasadena ISD recognizes community partners, scholarships and tournament fundraising

At reconvening the board recognized long-serving high-school tennis coach Emmanuel Moreno Jr. and introduced Kristen Eberhardt to present three winners of the Jean Krantz scholarship to attend NASA Space University and a fourth student who received a full scholarship to a Space Center Houston program. Eberhardt said the five-day STEM scholarship drew applicants from eight states and that the Pasadena ISD students were chosen from a large pool.
Lupita Montreal, chairperson of the Pasadena Food Drive, presented an award naming Pasadena ISD a top contributor and said 52 schools participated; she said PISD collected 148,000 pounds of food since 2022. The board also heard from Dr. Kirk Lewis and the McDonald’s Texas Invitational steering committee, who described more than $4,011,000 raised across the tournament’s history and that this year’s combined total was $284,996 (with $50,000 designated for Deer Park ISD and the remainder to Pasadena ISD and its education foundation). Trustees acknowledged volunteers and sponsors.
