OSU Extension educator to present financial-literacy session; outlines local programs

Candace Heyer, a consumer and family sciences educator with OSU Extension, briefed the Morrow County commissioners Dec. 2 about upcoming outreach and education efforts.
"So I'm Candace Heyer, being a consumer science educator," she told the commissioners, and said she will represent OSU Extension at a state conference session this week on financial literacy. Heyer said the session is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on Friday and will cover topics from funding sources to program delivery.
Heyer described several county and statewide initiatives she helps deliver, including Real Money Real World and Manage Your Money 101, and noted work with local partners such as the treasurer's office, homebuyer-education teams and criminal-justice stakeholders. She said she has worked with Judge Hickson and probation officers on programs aimed at reducing recidivism, and that the extension plans additional series in February.
Heyer offered to provide more details to commissioners and noted staff from multiple counties and local offices participate in these programs. She also thanked the board for its support and said county participation is listed in her program biography.
