Electrical work at the wastewater plant and the fire station also moved forward. Council voted to accept a contractors quote for electrical upgrades to breaker panels and to accept a quote for generator repairs (block-heater and related maintenance) after discussion about the age and replacement cost of a new generator (estimates of roughly $150,000 for a new unit, with used options noted). Motions to approve the specific contractor quotes were seconded and passed by voice votes.
On capital projects, Banning Engineering determined Howard Companies was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder at $250,956 for resurfacing and sidewalk repairs tied to a Community Crossings matching grant. The council authorized signing the contract before the March 1 deadline to preserve the DOT award.
