HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners unanimously elected John E. Lanza as director and Jeff Poole as deputy director during its annual reorganization meeting held at the Main Street County Complex.

Director John E. Lanza, sworn in during the ceremony, used his brief remarks to recap initiatives the board will carry forward. "My colleagues supported a $500,000 budget appropriation, created grant funds to assist local fire and EMS organizations to acquire critical life saving equipment such as turnout gear and air packs," Lanza said. He also cited an almost $10,000,000, state-approved facility investment intended to benefit first responders.
Lanza said the board will continue collaborative work with municipalities on shared services planning and direct grant programs to the county's 26 municipalities, and reiterated the continuation of policy roundtable discussions that Commissioner Vandoren helped start in 2020. He recognized attending dignitaries, including New Jersey State Senator Douglas J. Steinhardt, and thanked those involved in the swearing-in ceremonies.
Jeff Poole was sworn in as deputy director by Assemblyman John DiMeo; Lanza was sworn in by the Hon. Judge John J. Burke III. The board then moved on to regular agenda business.
