County grants move forward for Devore Farm restoration and Tewksbury library preservation

The board approved a series of municipal and historic‑preservation grants and three specific municipal grant awards during its Dec. 2 meeting.
County counsel presented multiple resolutions that included municipal support for the Polish Shepherd Memorial Park in Lebanon Borough (not to exceed $86,685.31), funding directed to the Devore Farm bank barn restoration (a matching grant and an amount referenced in two resolutions), and an acquisition award (not to exceed $354,000) for the Stavola property in Raritan Township. Separately, historic‑preservation grants were approved to the Tewksbury Land Trust for the Hollowbrook Stone Arch Bridge ($140,000), to Hunterdon Land Trust for the Devore Farm bank barn restoration (not to exceed $220,000), and to the Tewksbury Township Public Library Association for building preservation (not to exceed $90,000).
Kelly Brakewood, president of the Tewksbury Township Library Board of Trustees, thanked the board and described the library’s project: structural repairs to undersized main beams and floor joists, shoring a removed supporting wall, and addressing roofing and drainage work. Brakewood said the library has raised nearly $900,000 toward the project and expects construction to begin next year.
The grants were presented and approved by roll call; county and nonprofit leaders said the funding completes an important portion of matching and capital needs for these preservation projects.
