Jennifer Forrest, representing a multi‑town parent and community group, addressed the School Committee Feb. 24 to ask for help building public support for supplemental school funding and a reworked state funding formula.
Forrest described the group's past work organizing panels, urging letter writing and bringing parents to State House hearings. She said the effort partners with regional groups and unions to amplify messaging and that the group provides templates and guidance for writing legislators. “We encourage people to write letters. We give you guys templates. We bring people to come speak,” Forrest said.
Committee members thanked the volunteers and asked administration to circulate notices of upcoming hearings. Finance liaison Kim Craven highlighted an upcoming Ways & Means hearing in Lawrence on March 23 and asked committee members to encourage attendance to demonstrate local support.
Forrest and the committee agreed to continue outreach and to use district communications to share contact information and templates for constituent action.
