Senate advances and adopts several bills; committee confirms appointments

The amendment was described on the floor as creating an evaluation process to allow local district attorneys to give feedback to the weekend bond hearing office to increase local accountability.
The Senate also proceeded out of order to take up and adopt Senate Bill 84, which addresses preservation of certain privileges and information access for the Office of the State Auditor related to the state's fraud hotline. Senate Bill 53, which expands who may be eligible for CHFA low-interest home loans, passed the chamber as amended to add emergency dispatchers and correctional officers and to include an income qualifier tied to CHFA board limits.
The Senate laid over Senate Bill 43 until Feb. 26 and adopted the committee of the whole report, which ordered SB37 (as amended), SB84 and SB53 (as amended) to be placed on the calendar for third reading and final passage. Several board and commission appointments were recommended for the consent calendar, including appointees to the State Historical Society board and several finance-related boards; committee reports recommended confirmations.
The Senate recessed later in the morning after announcing committee meetings and visitor groups scheduled at the Capitol.
