CRA approves transfer of Indiantown parcel to Martin County for redevelopment use

The Martin County Community Redevelopment Agency voted Feb. 23, 2026 to transfer title for a CRA-owned parcel in Indiantown (16870 Charleston Street) to Martin County so the property can be used or disposed of by the county. Staff explained the Indiantown CRA was dissolved in 2018 when the Village of Indiantown was formed; absent an active CRA and TIF fund, the parcel could not reasonably be redeveloped under the CRA banner.
A board member moved to transfer the parcel to the county; the motion was seconded and the CRA approved the transfer by voice vote. Staff noted that interfund loans to county CRAs had been repaid in 2018–2019 and that the subject parcel had not been part of those reimbursements.
Why it matters: transferring title will allow county departments to consider redevelopment or other uses for the parcel rather than leaving the property in an inactive CRA account. The board did not discuss disposition details at length; staff said standard county disposal or repurposing options would follow normal procurement and interdepartmental review.
