City administrator: River corridor work to begin in March; water tower plans move toward bid

City Administrator Chris Hacker updated South Lebanon City Council on capital projects on Feb. 19, reporting progress on the River Corridor sewer project and preparatory steps for a water tower project funded in part by the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC).
Hacker said the city held a pre-construction meeting with Majors Enterprises and subcontractors, along with MSP engineers and other stakeholders. He said warmer weather allowed MSP to move forward with project layout and that, weather permitting, crews would begin clearing and preparatory work with full mobilization and pipe deliveries to follow. "Barring more snow, we will be able to begin clearing, and doing some of that work," Hacker said.
On the water tower, Hacker said the project plans are about "99% done" and that OPWC funding distributions typically arrive in mid-summer; the city expects to send the work out for bid in May so award timing lines up with fund availability.
Hacker also said the city is reviewing roadway project recommendations and will refresh engineering estimates before bidding to manage budgets and schedule construction work.
Next steps: MSP to complete layout as weather permits, Majors Enterprises to proceed with clearing work in March if conditions allow, and staff to prepare bids for water tower work in May pending OPWC distributions.
