Camden County commissioners host FAM Academy students and read a slate of infrastructure and health resolutions before moving to closed session

The Camden County Board of Commissioners opened its meeting with students from FAM Academy, a youth mentorship program, and invited questions from the group about public service and opportunities in Camden.
Students asked what motivates county leaders and how the county is changing perceptions of Camden. Commissioners emphasized long-term work to revive neighborhoods, a focus on parks and public safety, and efforts to attract life-science and biotech jobs by leveraging nearby hospitals and universities including Rutgers and Rowan. Commissioner Nash said restoring the city's economic engine and community pride motivates him; other commissioners highlighted work on food insecurity, homelessness and student training partnerships.
After the youth segment, Commissioner Bianco Bezic and other commissioners read a multi-item slate of resolutions. Notable items included an amendment to professional-engineering services for Haddon Ave (County Route 561) with an increase of $99,645.34; an amendment for Colliers Engineering and Design for Berlin Cross Keys construction management with an increase of $212,493.15; a FY2026 NJDOT grant application for Bridal (CR 551) roadway and infrastructure improvements in the amount of $8,000,000; and a resolution listing a $250,000 Senior Wellness Pilot Program grant application. The board also read resolutions authorizing shared-service agreements, personnel actions, and contract awards or rescissions.
The board opened the floor for public comment on the resolutions. Public commenters raised concerns about the county's planned IDRC procurement (Resolution 16), alleging procurement irregularities; commissioners took those comments under advisement and read a closed session resolution. The board adopted the closed session resolution under the Open Public Meetings Act, entered closed session, later returned stating there was no further public action that day, and adjourned.
The meeting included the youth engagement segment, a lengthy consent and resolutions reading for infrastructure and programmatic items (many contingent on 2026 budget passage), a public comment period with a procurement concern, and a closed-session vote to discuss personnel and related matters.
