Broadwater County Fair Board proposes higher budgets, targets new bleachers and judge fees

On operating lines, board members proposed increasing the advertising budget from $1,200 to $1,500 and raising the total judges' fees to $1,500 across categories. Petty cash was proposed to increase to $1,000 to avoid last-year overruns, and members recommended shifting some judge costs between operating supplies and contract services to align with county accounting rules.
On larger capital improvements, the board discussed whether to bundle bleachers, chair racks, replacement tables and a floor-cleaning machine into a CIP (capital improvement) request; county rules require a minimum CIP request of $5,000. Unidentified Speaker 2 said the kitchen and restroom work might raise the total above that threshold and recommended a contractor review to provide firm estimates.
