Passaic County honors Buildings & Grounds superintendent Steve Orsini at retirement ceremony

The Passaic County Board of Commissioners honored Steve Orsini on Feb. 24 with a proclamation recognizing his tenure as superintendent of Buildings and Grounds and his role overseeing county facility maintenance and upgrades. The board read a proclamation that credited Orsini with leadership on mechanical and infrastructure projects, pandemic response activities and facility accessibility improvements; the proclamation text both said he has "dedicated more than 2 decades of distinguished public service" and also states he "began his service with Passaic County in 2015."

Orsini, who the proclamation identifies as superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, addressed the board and thanked county leaders and a long list of colleagues. "It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve Passaic County," he said, and singled out Chairman John Kerry and Anthony DeNova for mentorship and support. He also thanked department colleagues by name, including parks director Daryl Sparta, assistant director Greg Moore and roads director Ken Simpson.

Andre Saia, mayor of Paterson, spoke at the podium and thanked county partners for coordinating snowstorm response efforts before congratulating Orsini. Commissioners used the occasion to recognize the public works crews who worked through the recent storm, and several commissioners offered brief personal tributes and lighthearted remarks during photos and presentations.

The board presented the proclamation, invited Orsini's family forward for photographs and recessed the ceremonial portion of the meeting to resume regular business.
