The Hemet City Council voted to authorize an annual contribution of $50,000 to the Ramona Bowl Amphitheatre Association for fiscal years 2025—26 through 2029—30 (total $250,000). City staff presented the Ramona Bowl's strategic plan and explained the association is seeking concurrent capital funding while ongoing operations need stable programming dollars. Board representatives described increased programming activity, new market events and plans for revitalization.
City Attorney noted that Mayor Krupa and Councilmember Peterson serve on the Ramona Bowl board in volunteer roles and advised participation in the discussion was not disqualifying under the Political Reform Act; Mayor Krupa nonetheless abstained from the vote to avoid any perception of conflict. Councilmember Clark moved the multi-year contribution and Councilmember Lodge seconded; roll call showed four yes votes and one abstention. Council directed the city manager to include the contribution in the upcoming budget cycle and to execute necessary agreements or amendments.
