The Hemet City Council approved a resolution to appoint Jane Halstead as interim city clerk at its Feb. 24 meeting.
City Manager presented the request and explained this action is standard when appointing a retired annuitant and noted CalPERS limitations. Halstead, who said she has more than 30 years of municipal clerking experience including service as Moreno Valley city clerk, briefly introduced herself. Council considered the appointment, asked questions about experience and interim terms, and then voted to approve the employment agreement for the interim appointment. The motion carried on a 5-0 roll call vote.
