The Santa Fe Public Schools Board unanimously approved a digital‑wellness resolution Dec. 10 that asks the district to create an intentional framework for student digital engagement.
Vice President Noble presented the measure, thanking deputy superintendents and district staff who helped develop the language. Noble said the resolution is intended as a framework to set guardrails for screen time, explain how technology will be used at developmentally appropriate levels and cultivate partnership with families and students.
Board members expressed broad support. Board Member Heffron said she hopes the policy will prioritize balanced, age‑appropriate digital learning to protect student and teacher well‑being. President Abeyta said he saw no reason to delay implementation. The board approved the resolution and directed staff to move forward with the work and numbering of the resolution.
The resolution is designed to be nonprescriptive and to prompt district communication with parents about what families should expect for screen time and digital instruction at different grade levels.
