Platteville approves sewer‑rate adjustments effective June 15, 2025

The Platteville Common Council voted May 27 to adopt sewer‑rate adjustments recommended in an Ehlers cost‑of‑service study. Staff said the study aimed to allocate costs more equitably across customer classes: residential customers will see a slight decrease, commercial users a slight increase, and multifamily, industrial and public users (including UW‑Platteville and the school district) will see larger increases based on higher strength or service impacts.
Howard said the rate changes were included in the 2025 financial plan and that the study accounted for the fact that the city has not been collecting the planned increases for six months. The council approved the proposed rate schedule, with the new rates effective for bills starting June 15, 2025.
