Resident raises long-running handicap-parking request; council says it will follow up

“Everybody seems to — she’s been parked there 40 years, and now suddenly we have a problem,” the resident, Doug, said during public comment. Council members and Sergeant Lucas responded that the request was reviewed during the leadership transition and is on the August work session agenda. Sergeant Lucas said he had looked into the matter and that staff would provide an answer in about two and a half weeks.
Council members acknowledged the perception issue and said transition-related gaps may have delayed the case. One council member offered to pay if the problem were a funding issue, but staff indicated money was not expected to be the barrier.
What happens next: staff will review the parking request, inspect the site if necessary and report back at the stated timeframe. If residents have additional documentation, council asked they bring it to the borough or the work session for review.
