Committee accepts Teacher Standards and Practice Commission review recommending hybrid revenue approach

Representative Ruiz told the committee the commission’s review stems from a budget note directing a comprehensive assessment of fee revenue and projected workload. The commission recommends increasing licensing fees combined with identification of an additional legislative revenue source to defray licensing costs. The agency expects to include a policy option package as part of the 2027–29 budget process.
There was no substantive discussion recorded; Representative Valderrama registered the committee’s affirmative response and the report was acknowledged by no objection. Any fee changes or legislative offsets would require future agency rulemaking and legislative appropriation.
