Assembly advances and passes a broad consent calendar of bills, including racing, veterans and municipal measures
Summary
The Jan. 27 session advanced and passed numerous consent-calendar bills across a range of policy areas (racing wagering, municipal law, veterans services, real property and others), with many measures passing unanimously or by large margins; several bills were laid aside for later consideration.
Following floor debate on higher-profile items, the Assembly advanced and disposed of a long consent calendar that included bills on racing permutal wagering and breeding law, amendments to municipal and county law, veterans services, property and insurance measures, and a series of local and statewide technical fixes.
Several bills were adopted on voice or unanimous recorded votes (many recorded Ayes 141, Nos 0), while others were laid aside. Sponsors moved senate bills before the House, the clerk read the last sections where required and the clerk recorded votes as indicated in the calendar sequence. The consent calendar included dozens of individual enactments and procedural dispositions; members offered brief explanations where required and moved on to additional calendar items until adjournment.
The session closed after introductions and a brief floor remembrance; the Assembly stood adjourned and will reconvene at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29.
