The Planning & Zoning Commission of McLendon-Chisholm approved two development items Oct. 21 and declined another that will likely advance to city council.
Commissioners unanimously approved a request to construct a new primary residence and designate the existing dwelling as a detached guest house at 1395 East FM 550 (CAT ID 51610). Staff told the commission the property complies with zoning and land-use regulations and is consistent with the city’s comprehensive plan emphasis on preserving low-density residential character. Commissioners expressed support for the proposal and the motion to approve carried with no recorded opposition.
The commission also approved a final plat to combine two tracts located at 247 Stevens Road (Cat IDs 13033 and 26902) into a single 4.827-acre lot. Staff recommended full approval; commissioners had no substantive questions and the motion carried unanimously.
Separately, the commission debated a site plan for a proposed convenience store with fuel pumps at the corner of State Highway 205 and FM 550 and ultimately recommended denial on PD-conformity grounds; staff and the applicant said the item had been administratively accepted after city-council direction and may appear before council for a final determination.
The commission scheduled its next meeting for Nov. 18, 2025, and adjourned at 19:59.
