Council approves purchase of used Toro sprayer with warranty for parks maintenance

Council approved purchasing a used Toro Z sprayer with a full warranty for $13,000 to improve the parks department’s ability to spread granular fertilizer and, in combination with potential future liquid spray equipment, reduce contracted service time and costs. Parks staff said the city currently spends about $15,000–$18,000 per year on product costs and that the sprayer would free limited staff hours (estimated one worker a month or a few days of labor) and speed operations.

Zach (parks staff) demonstrated the machine during a prior demo and noted warranty coverage; council approved the purchase by motion and roll call. Staff will integrate the sprayer into the maintenance schedule and explore adding a larger vehicle‑mounted sprayer in future budget cycles to extend liquid‑application capacity and further reduce outsourcing.
