Interim city manager Mark presented a timeline for the city manager recruitment process on Jan. 27 and said he will lead the staff review and interview process.
Key dates announced: the application deadline is Feb. 6; the council will hold a closed session Feb. 10 to hear a staff report and approve applicants for staff interviews; staff (led by Mark) will conduct virtual screening interviews over the following two weeks; council interviews are planned for March 12 (daytime), with a community meet‑and‑greet scheduled for March 11 in the evening. If a consensus candidate emerges, council could approve the employment agreement on March 24.
Mark said the screening approach responds to council feedback seeking strong verbal skills and community engagement from candidates; the meet‑and‑greet is intended to give residents an informal chance to meet finalists. He said McMahon (the search approach) will be internal with him leading the effort and with additional staff support for applicant review.
Next steps: applicants to apply by Feb. 6; staff to screen candidates and return to council with recommended interviewees for council consideration in March.
