Votes at a glance: House adopts resolutions, extends committee deadlines, approves Hudson license and Plainville special-police bill

The Massachusetts House on the floor adopted resolutions, approved multiple orders extending committee reporting deadlines, passed a local licensing measure for Hudson and approved a Senate bill affecting Plainville, then adjourned to reconvene the next day.

Committee reports and voice votes: The Committee on Rules reported several items the chamber adopted by voice vote, including resolutions honoring the Quebec–Massachusetts partnership and congratulating Links Incorporated on an anniversary. The House repeatedly suspended the rules to consider and adopt these items; the presiding officer concluded multiple voice votes by saying, “The ayes have it.”

Deadlines extended: The House adopted orders extending reporting deadlines for committees. One order extended until Friday, 07/31/2026 the time for the Committee on the Judiciary to report on certain House documents; another extended the Committee on Revenue’s reporting time to Wednesday, 03/18/2026, and an additional order extended a separate revenue deadline to Friday, 06/26/2026. All were adopted after motions to suspend the rules.

Bills approved: On final passage the House passed an act (house 4272) authorizing the town of Hudson to grant an additional license for the sale of wine and malt beverages not to be consumed on the premises; the chamber passed the bill to be enacted by voice vote. The Clerk also reported Senate No. 1898 (an act authorizing appointment of retired police officers as special police officers in the town of Plainville); the House passed that bill to be enacted on third reading by voice vote.

Adjournment and logistics: The House approved an order to adjourn and stood adjourned to meet the next day at 11:00 a.m.; the presiding officer announced a Democratic caucus at noon in Rooms A1 and A2.
