District officials announced kindergarten registration for the 2026–27 school year will begin March 10 at each elementary school (5–7 p.m.) and outlined a three-pronged outreach plan after reporting last year's event registered 468 rising kindergarten students (about 64% of total kindergarten registrations).
District staff told the board that kindergarten registration for the 2026–27 school year will begin Tuesday, March 10, with a floating event held at each elementary school from 5 to 7 p.m. Families who cannot register at the event will be able to register at their school during office hours afterward.
Ashley Moore, who presented the registration plan, described a three-pronged outreach campaign starting Feb. 16: district-managed digital billboards and a press release to local media; school-level outreach (marquees, newsletters, flyers and phone calls); and community partner distribution through the Randolph County Public Library, Randolph County Partnership for Children and Communities in Schools of Randolph County. "That last year's event, we fully registered 468 rising kindergarten students and that was 78 potential registrants," Moore said, adding that represented about 64% of the district's kindergarten registrations and was an improvement from the prior year.
The board members praised the outreach plan and principals' involvement and encouraged staff to continue using the mix of district, school and partner channels to reach families. Staff said the goal is to maximize initial registrations and follow up promptly with families who arrive without complete paperwork.
