Parks director outlines reservation changes, eagle-permit review and Sept. 21 'Spooktacular' event

Wherry said crews have double-mowed all county forest trails and that trail conditions are improved; he thanked the county for new equipment (tractor with brush hog). He reported an eagle-permit application has been submitted and is currently under review; the federal reviewer had asked for three corrections and a site visit was pending.
Wherry announced a schedule change for reservations: online reservations will open Dec. 1 at midnight for the following season, and seasonal-site holders at Pioneer and Fuller must be locked in and paid by Nov. 15 to preserve their priority. He explained the county’s cancellation policy: refunds are available minus a $15 fee if canceled more than seven days before a stay.
Wherry also previewed the Parks 'Spooktacular' family event on Sept. 21, noting donation progress toward an $8,500 target and inviting community contributions and volunteers. He said seasonal-site capacity is capped at 10 sites at Fuller and 16 at Pioneer and that Campspot provides optional trip insurance for reservation holders.
