Delta County board approves $299,741.07 in bills, adopts electronic banking policy and approves CAC lease; FOIA appeal denied

The clerk reported a grand total of $299,741.07 in bills and $555.33 in commissioner expenses. A motion to approve those payments was made and carried by roll call. Commissioners named in the roll call in the transcript answered affirmatively when asked.
On staffing and administrative finance, the board adopted a revised Treasurer’s Electronic Banking Policy presented by Treasurer Sherry Godfrey to update procedures for electronic fund transfers within the county treasury.
The board also approved a lease for the Delta Regional Child (CAC) Abbiski Center that keeps county rent at $0 for three years while shifting responsibility for utilities to the CAC. County staff told commissioners they had provided multiyear utility figures to the CAC director, Sarah Sorensen, to assist budgeting; staff estimated utilities at roughly $4,000 per year. The board approved the lease by motion.
The board entered closed session under MCL 15.268(h) for a matter involving attorney–client privilege. After returning to open session, commissioners voted to deny a FOIA appeal involving the sheriff’s department (case number referenced in the record). A motion to deny the appeal was seconded and passed by roll call vote.
Other routine items approved included minutes, committee reports and a sublease allowing the Upward Talent Council to sublet a small cubicle to the Sublette Small Business Development Center. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
