Council approves Albion Street payments, event permits and several licenses

The body voted to approve a change order for EKS Excavating on the Albion Street utility and street improvement project for $65,418.26, a pay request of $42,076.16 to BKS Excavating for phase 1, and pay request No. 1 to RTFOX for $370,805.90 for phase 2. Council members also approved bills and payroll totaling $394,815.28.
The council approved multiple event packets: Edgerton Tobacco Days (July 18–20) was approved with conditions including waiving the $400 rental fee while retaining a $350 deposit, allowing the park to remain open past dusk on Friday and Saturday, prohibiting alcohol ticket sales after 11:30 p.m. and prohibiting redemption after midnight, and requiring the event to cover half of police overtime and extra DPW hours for garbage removal. A temporary Class B beer and wine license for Tobacco Heritage Days was also approved.
Other event approvals included the Edgerton Pottery & Arts Festival (July 19) and National Night Out (Aug. 5), with fee waivers for the latter.
Licenses and business approvals included a retail cigarette, tobacco and electronic vaping-device license for M1848 and a new Class B beer and Class C wine license for A and B Italian Cuisine LLC (doing business as Mario's Italian Restaurant, agent Benjamin). The council also approved an amendment to the Cedar Corp. engineering agreement for Algen Street and awarded a sidewalk-grinding contract to Universal Concrete Grinding at $13.75 per linear foot.
The meeting included two small exterior-improvement grants: up to $5,000 for exterior work at a teen center (listed as 4204 West Fulton Strand Street) and up to $5,000 for roof repairs at 21 North Henry Street (identified in the meeting as the Edgerton Hotel). Members asked whether insurance payments might cover portions of the repairs; the council recorded that the $5,000 amounts were the grants’ limits.
