The contractor said, “We have completely gutted it. We removed all the windows, replaced the windows. We got electrical being red right now,” and that temporary jacks were installed to make the basement safe for continued work. Building staff confirmed a foundation permit was issued and an electrical inspector met with the crew to facilitate restoring the meter under code.
Board members emphasized that permits and inspections must be pulled and passed before any drywall or permanent concealment of work. Chief Building Official Dave Fasiano reiterated the city will require inspection reports and proper permits before approving next steps.
The board voted to continue the stay of demolition to allow contractors to proceed with permitted work and to return to the board with documentation of inspections and permits. No timetable for final remediation or occupancy was provided at the meeting.
