Sanford unveils centralized capital projects dashboard, staff to fix Gantt display

Elizabeth Jones, the city’s strategic manager, introduced a consolidated public performance hub at the Feb. 23 work session that links the strategic plan, department KPIs and a capital projects dashboard intended to make project scope, mapping, status and budget data available in one place.
Jones demonstrated features that let users sort projects by district and fiscal year, view project pages with scope, phases and contact links, and highlight projects that generate heightened public interest. She cited the 2nd Street streetscape, the Mayfair Country Club clubhouse, Fire Station 40, marina work, vacuum sewer lift stations and a water meter exchange among the projects available on the dashboard.
Commissioners asked Jones to ensure the Gantt chart displays in‑progress stages and actual completion dates (not only completed items). Jones said the underlying data exist on the back end, that she would troubleshoot a display error this evening and post the quarter‑1 report to the city website by the afternoon or next morning. Commissioners also suggested adding resident‑facing links and placing the dashboard in a spot reachable in three clicks.
Jones said the dashboard will include narrative context and media (for example, a video of the Mayfair clubhouse opening) and that staff can add or remove projects on request. No formal action was taken; Jones will return with adjustments and the Q1 materials.
